Flypmedia.com is a unique website that allows viewers to enter a world of visual media while sitting behind a computer screen. You can watch interviews, get a visual tour of the stories scenery, or simply just read interesting articles. When it comes to interactive storytelling the viewer needs to feel compelled to want to read the article. One main attribute is having an appropriate title that will capture the viewer’s eye and will have optimal search findings.
With interactive storytelling, “The writing is conversational and friendly, but also specific and direct.” This concept allows the reader to become more involved with the story on hand and makes them more vulnerable to offer feedback and comments. By simply clicking on a headline story in flypmedia.com such as A Matter of Life & Death, even just the images have already captured me, the viewer, to want to invest my time in the context of the story. Part of being a journalist is being able to explore all different ideas and concepts, and to brand your own name by being creative and unique.
This video shows a unique way of interactive storytelling. Whatever program and book this learning device might be, it allows children to get excited to learn. As we have probably seen a commercial with Ellen Page where she walks into a classroom and the students are able to video-chat with a classroom across the globe in China. Skype has become an interactive tool that allows people to communicate free of charge over an Internet connection. The 10 laws of interactive storytelling are prevalent not only on flypmedia.com but on the other sites I listed as well. From my experience of roaming through the Internet, flypmedia.com differs simply on the stories they chose to produce, but in general interactive storytelling is changing the way we learn and is only allowing us as students to grow.

The world is ever-changing, and in today’s era, time is becoming the most prevalent concept. Michael Wolff founder of Newser.com mentions how we no longer have the time nor the patience to sit through thousand word articles, to read each newspaper, or to choose which stories will be worthwhile. He constructed his website to condense articles to 65-100 words and to leave the readers to decide the most important stories, all while doing so online. A study done by Nielsen shows us that “more than 37% of all households with internet access visited a new site at least once weekly, roughly 59 million people” which leads him perfectly to his target market.
According to The Newspaper Industry Today, “Newspapers are filing for Chapter 11 protection, reducing their days of publication, going out of business or threatening to do so. Newspapers are dead or at least dying.” Now is the time for Wolff to market his concept and he mentioned how his business model will be profitable this year. I agree with Wolff and his concept, but I do think he is still a few years ahead of himself.
Through it all the Amazon Kindle is still on board with newspaper subscriptions, just in a newly green environmental way. Can Kindle save the failing newspaper industry? states, “now, several newspapers worldwide have gone one step further and have embraced the Amazon Kindle, offering digital subscriptions available on the device. Kindle offers newspapers a digital subscription outlet which can help boost circulation numbers accurately and fairly for the media dinosaurs.”
In the NYT’s executive’s memo they mention, “While digital advertising will continue to be the major contributor to our success on the Web, we expect that online subscription revenue will improve our ability to grow an important part of this business.” Many companies are realizing the boom of the technology era and are trying to take advantage of their physical subscription loss, by changing that to a computer based subscription that can lead to a paper free print. Wolff has the idea, now as his ‘journalists’ we need to make Newser.com a successful endeavor.

In 2009 police investigated eight reported cases of muggings and robberies. Five reported as related, 2 were unsure of the correlation and the eighth is still being investigated. The four victims all were male, in their mid-twenties, and alone at the time of being mugged. The four men were asked for their wallets and then beaten in the face and in the head, two ending up being hospitalized. Though five of the muggings are, timing between the distances makes one realize it was possible more than one person took part. In one of the cases it three men were the potential robbers, and in another case a suspect was released post a physical lineup. This link leads to a MUGGING MAP I generated of the locations of the eight different muggings. If you have any further information, please do not hesitate to call the police.

Over the years what has been required as a journalist has changed immensely. Today’s new decade is the most unusual of them all. When the stock market crashed, millions over the world lost their jobs and condensing the workforce was in its prime. The ones still in the work force today are those who are capable of multi-tasking as well as those who are multi-cultured in a work environment. A person capable of being an anchor in all regions, as well as be able to shoot and edit their own footage saves a company a huge percentage in expenses. Companies are doing whatever they can to save themselves, and by cutting back only the strongest survive.
A main fundamental skill missing from the Mashable list needed for journalists today, is working together. Programs, newspapers and radio stations, all need to lean on one another to achieve maximum results. If you can’t work with a partner, team, or a body of co-workers you don’t only risk problems for your company, but you risk losing your own job as well. Though one person is able to produce a package, it takes a number of people to generate a broad range of ideas to produce the best package possible. A good network has an open door policy where everyone is able to pitch ideas and run with their own stories. By working together as a group, everyone benefits. It is explained that differing companies should collaborate on stories and this too goes back to being able to work together. By having a peaceful environment, workers are more willing to stretch their boundaries without being timid. Without trying new tactics, reaching out to the impossible, or helping one another complete a story, all that is left is a discombobulated work team searching for different answers.
